GRETNA GATEWAY AIMS TO REPEAT JOBS FAIR SUCCESS
With less than two months to go before the official opening of Gretna Gateway's second phase of development, the management at the outlet village will next week host a Jobs Fair aimed at recruiting staff for the centre's new store line-up.
Marks and Spencer will be the anchor tenant in the new £8 million, 48,000 sq ft extension that will add another 21 stores to the existing 38. Around 150 new jobs are being created by the development and the Gretna Gateway management is keen to recruit as many top quality candidates from the surrounding areas as possible.
The Jobs Fair, which takes place on Wednesday 15 September at the Garden House Hotel in Gretna, is the second in less than a month to be hosted by Gretna Gateway, with support from the JobCentre network. A similar event on 18 August saw 8 retailers and over 200 prospective employees attending. All of the retailers were delighted with the high calibre of the candidates and many have already been offered jobs, with follow-up interviews for many positions still ongoing.
Next Wednesday's event will involve at least seven additional retailers including Antler luggage, Hallmark Cards, Coloroll, the home décor and soft furnishings store, Mountain Warehouse, stockists of outdoor clothes and equipment, as well as Suits You menswear, Autonomy womenswear and Ice Blue childrenswear. All are looking to fill a variety of positions including full, part time and management jobs.
Peter Gardner, General Manager at Gretna Gateway said; "We're delighted with the success of our last Jobs Fair which will help to fill around 100 job vacancies. A further 50 positions will be on offer next week so we hope that the levels of interest from prospective employees will be high. Things are really progressing well with Phase two at Gretna Gateway which is a hive of activity at the moment. Shopfitting has begun at Marks and Spencer which is set to open mid October, and other tenants will begin their shopfit in two weeks time. All of this comes on top of our most successful trading year to date, with sales figures for July and August 20% ahead of last year. We hope as many prospective employees as possible will come along to the jobs fair with a view to joining in our success."
The Gretna Gateway Jobs Fair takes place at the Garden House Hotel Gretna from 10am to 3pm on Wednesday 15 September.
