Tourist Information Centre moves to the Gateway
A new Tourist Information Centre has opened in Gretna Gateway Outlet Village, to replace the existing centre in the area.
The centre, based in the popular shopping outlet, opened on Saturday 12 June and has already welcomed over 2189 people through its doors, compared to 939 visitors during the same period last year. Dumfries & Galloway Tourist Board took the decision to move the centre in April of this year, following detailed research into the type of customers the village is currently attracting.
Vicki Miller, Chief Executive at the Tourist Board said of the move, "The Outlet village currently has over one million visitor per year, with many coming from our key markets of Scotland and the north of England. A high percentage of their visitors are also from our targeted customer groups; high spending mature couples and families.
"The new Tourist Information Centre in the Outlet Village will provide the region with greater exposure to our key customers in our core target markets. It will also allow us to offer extensive retailing and information provision, providing us with a unique opportunity to encourage visitors to spend a little longer in the surrounding area and plan a future visit to the region."
Peter Gardner, Centre Manager at Gretna Gateway Outlet Village is pleased to welcome the new Tourist Information Centre to the village, commenting;" We are delighted to welcome the new Tourist Information Centre to Gretna Gateway Outlet Village, and we're sure it will prove to be a tremendous success for the Board and the whole of Dumfries and Galloway".
